The screen panels and double gates for the prayer garden at Saint Alphege’s church Whitstable have been installed today. The plan is to create a peaceful and thoughtful space from a piece of derelict land behind the church. I played with a number of ideas and we eventually settled on a forged motif finial based loosely around a developing maidenhair fern. Whilst the screen was to appear welcoming, security of the site was also deemed an important factor. We decided on a galvanised and T washed finish to give it a more aged look. The landscaping is due to commence soon.
